Community arts center presents March classes for all ages

WILTON – The Foothills Arts Center invites adults and children to join its March classes and workshops. The Foothills’ artist-teachers will present a wide variety of opportunities for creative learning and joyful exploration at the region’s community arts center in the Bass-Wilson building in downtown Wilton.

The following sets of classes are for grades 1 through 3: “Circus Rings: Theater Games,” on three Tuesdays, March 3 – 17, 3:30-4:30 p.m.; “Crafty Art,” on three Saturdays, March 7 – 21, 9:30-10:30 a.m..; and “Let’s Write a Song,” the same three Saturdays, 10:45-11:45 a.m.

“Communication Skills for Everyday People,” for adults and high school students, is a fun way to explore how we can communicate better on an everyday basis with those around us. The class will meet for six Mondays, 6-7:30 p.m., beginning March 2.

A songwriting class for adults and high school students will be held on three Tuesdays, March 3 –17, 6:00-7:30 p.m. Participants will practice finding, developing, and expanding their own ideas into lyrics, meter, form, and melody. They will create an exciting hook, brainstorm the possibilities, and learn how to make their song take shape. No experience is necessary, but experienced songwriters are welcome.

“Old Fashioned Sing-Along” is a class for all ages. The three sessions are on Saturdays, March 7 – 21, 12:30-1:30 p.m. The group will sing well-known folk-style songs and learn some new ones.

Visual art classes for various age groups will be offered on Wednesdays after school, 3:30-4:30.: “Woven Baskets,” grades 2 and up, on March 4; “Kumihimo Braids, grades 3 and up, on March 11; Gesture Drawing and Sculpture, grades 4 and up, on March 18.
