Musicians, singers wanted for new Blues Band

2 mins read

Eric Rutberg’s Blues band is looking for a couple of horn players, perhaps a b-3 organ/keyboard player – even lead and back-up vocalists. Interested? Well, here’s a little introduction of the band by Rutberg:

Our first band meeting brought together guys with various musical backgrounds. The drummer hails from Brooklyn, N.Y. His mohawk style haircut and knee-length shorts screamed “punk rocker” but his knowledge of music was eclectic. He’s got what I call “drummer’s eyes,” telltale peeps that scream “bring it on.”

On bass, a homegrown rocker that lives for thumpin’ the bottom out of any tune you throw his way.

Then there is The Brassman; a blue collar worker with an upper class taste in music. He’s played with all the local bands and sits in on open mic nights wherever his work travels take him. He can weave melodies improvisationally and strictly by ear. Wielding a Jorma Kaukonen signature, semi-hollow body epiphone was the area’s premier musicologist. DJ of various radio shows, MC sat back in his chair – confident that if he didn’t know the tune, he’d be able to learn it. His preference though, as is mine…The Blues. He smiled wide as I introduced the set list: BB King, Clapton, Sam and Dave, The Allman Brothers, Etta James, Elvis, Wilson Pickett. We all agreed this band will swing!

It’s been 10 weeks of sessions and we’ve worked out some nice arrangements. No name for the band yet. I’m putting a quiz on Facebook that may result in something. But, don’t worry, when we hit the scene you’ll hear about us. If you want a more direct line, check out “AnatomyofaBand” on Facebook.
