CHESTERVILLE – Organizers of the first Open Acoustic Jam to be held at the Chesterville Center Meeting House say they anticipate a great turn-out and extraordinary concert on Sunday afternoon, July 14, 2013.

The fund-raising event will feature the open jam and a cook-out/picnic from 1:00 to 4:00, culminating in a concert open to the public at around 4:00 p.m.

“We expect numerous fiddlers, guitarists, at least one fantastic banjo player, possibly some professional ukulele players, one or more cellists, and lots of surprises,” said Paul Stancioff, one of the organizers.

“I’ve e-mailed everyone I could think of in the music community, and have gotten a lot of positive response,” said Rob Rogers, another of the organizers, himself the father of two of the participating musicians.

Participation in the jam is free, but participants are encouraged to bring a dish or beverage to contribute to the picnic. A grill will be available and grilled items will be for sale.

The jam and the concert are open to the public. The event is meant to raise funds for the up-keep of the building, which is envisioned by its non-profit organization owners to be a center for community gatherings and performances. Donations will be accepted at the door.
