FARMINGTON – Mardy Bogar of Farmington will be SugarWood Gallery’s featured Artist of the Month in May. An Open House Reception is planned for Friday, April 30 from 4 to 7 PM and again on Saturday, May 1 from 11 to 3 PM. The public is invited and refreshments will be available.

Mardy’s outlook is reflective of her art. She states “nature is part of my everyday life and it is there that the inspiration to paint is found.”

“Surrounded by the beauty of the mountains and waters of Maine,” she said, “I have been recording these landscapes by painting them on ceramic tile to bring functional art into the home. Customers often provide photos from which custom tile murals are created. I balance mediums by painting with oil and pastel, combining realism with impressionism. Striving to convey emotion and movement in my work, I believe surrounding oneself with the beauty of art is essential for the soul.”

Mardy’s work can be viewed at SugarWood Gallery, various art shows and many homes and businesses across the country. She lives in Farmington with her husband, John. Visiting their four grown and five grandchildren offers much inspiration for painting the life that surrounds.

SugarWood Gallery is located at 248 Broadway in Farmington. Hours are 10 AM to 5:30 PM Monday through Friday and from 10 AM to 4 PM on Saturday and Sunday.
