BANGOR – Bangor Savings Bank is extremely pleased to announce that it recently received a Governor’s Exemplary Service Award. This recognition is given to those Maine businesses nominated for the Annual Governor’s Corporate Volunteerism Award for their community service efforts.

Yellow Light Breen, Senior Vice President and Chief Strategic Officer of Bangor Savings Bank, accepted the award from Governor John E. Baldacci at the Governor’s Volunteer Service Awards ceremony held at the State House Hall of Flags on April 21. Breen commented, “Bangor Savings Bank has a long history of community involvement and we are especially proud of the employees who volunteer their time and share their skills and knowledge with Maine’s youth through Junior Achievement.”

Bangor Savings Bank was nominated for the Corporate Volunteerism Award by Terry A. Jacobs, President of WorkSource Staffing Services and an active member of Junior Achievement (JA) in Bangor. “There are 19 Bangor Savings Bank employees involved with Junior Achievement statewide,” said Jacobs, “and the bank is consistently committed to lending and supporting these volunteers so they can teach JA programs and serve on the governing boards.”

Junior Achievement is a successful partnership between the business community, educators and volunteers – all working together to inspire young people to dream big and reach their potential. JA’s hands-on, experiential programs teach the key concepts of work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy to young people all over the world. There are 100 schools in Maine that participate in JA.
