The Western Maine Market is now open for business! The Western Mountains Alliance has been working one on one with local farmers and producers to get the site up and running.
Update: This is just a reminder that the Western Maine Market will be closed for shopping on Mondays, so we can let the farmers know what has been ordered from their farm. As the growing season gets into gear, farmers will need this time to harvest, thereby providing you with the freshest vegetables possible. The farmers will deliver your order to Tranten’s on Tuesdays. You can pick up your items between 4 pm – 6 pm.
Western Maine Market will have a table in the rear of the store. Just tell us your name and we’ll find your items. Remember, orders not picked-up on Tuesday will be donated to a locate food bank. If you run into difficulties picking up you food, please call us at 778-3885 and leave a message. We may be able to arrange a way to get your order to you. We do not encourage this, though. Please only use this option if there is a true emergency on your end
The market presents an amazing opportunity for local community members to support local farmers and producers. The market provides a space for local food supporters to easily access a variety of delicious, fresh, local products.
The growing season is just getting started, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t good local foods to be found. There are baked goods, honey and maple syrup products, frozen blueberries, cheese, and preserves available. Feel free to explore the site, get to know the different farmers and producers, and familiarize yourself with the set-up and arrangement – so come the abundance of summer, you all will be pros at this!
As we are just getting this Web site started, it is inevitable that kinks will arise. We ask for your patience and support as the site continues to evolve into a more efficient and easy instrument.
