UMF Upward Bound seeks an Academic Counselor/Technology and Outreach Coordinator. Upward Bound is a federally-funded program supported by two 5-year competitive renewable grants from the U.S. Department of Education’s TRIO Programs. The goals of UMF UB are to provide support for high school students who are from low-income families and/or would be the first in their families to graduate from college to enter, persist and graduate from college. The Academic Counselor/Technology and Outreach Coordinator works with the Director and other Upward Bound at UMF staff to collaboratively plan and implement the program and achieve standardized program goals and objectives for two programs: Foothills Upward Bound and River Valley Upward Bound. The Academic Counselor/Technology and Outreach Coordinator provides day-to-day oversight and coordination of programming and record-keeping as well as direct services and support to students.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in education or related field, experience working with high school students in an education setting, ability to work individually without direct supervision, excellent communication skills,.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications: Master’s degree in education or related field, expertise and/or experience in social media management, STEM curriculum design and instruction, knowledge of the challenges facing the postsecondary attainment of low-income potential first-generation college students, knowledge of the college and financial aid application process, strong leadership and organization skills, demonstrated commitment to equity in education.
