Storytelling workshops continue

Have you ever wished you could keep a crowd on the edge of their seats with a good story? Well now is your chance! The Rangeley Friends of the Arts has received a Discovery Grant from the Onion Foundation to host Storytelling Workshops. The workshops will be held twice a month with an opportunity to perform monthly. Come craft your story with our favorite funny man, storyteller extraordinaire and RLRS English teacher, Tim Straub. Rilke’s Sonnets to Orpheus: A Centenary Celebration

Exactly a century ago, Rainer Maria Rilke created the fifty-five Sonnets to Orpheus within one month in what he called a "hurricane" of creativity. Farmington author, translator, Teacher, and community activist John Rosenwald will present and discuss his translations of Rilke's sonnets, recently published by covered bridge press.

Palaver Strings is a group of talented and socially conscious musicians from the Portland, ME area. Welcome Here celebrates the vitality of Maine’s indigenous and immigrant communities through music and storytelling. Palaver Strings, in partnership with the Abbe Museum, Greater Portland Immigrant Welcome Center, and Indigo Arts Alliance, will collaborate with guest artists of Wabanaki, Congolese and Puerto Rican heritage, sharing traditional music and personal narratives. The program explores themes of Motherland, Mother Tongue and Mother love--interweaving stories of our relationship with the natural world, our cultural and linguistic traditions, and our dreams for the future generation of our grandchildren

Campfire Chronicles

Our second of many Campfire Chronicles at our farm. Come visit the farm and hear talented local musicians, and enjoy fun family fun (with room to dance)! We'll have a campfire and farm fresh food featuring our own farm raised products. May 7 is our "Taco" night -  veggie options and meat options available. 5:30 is our open jam, so bring your voice or your instrument, 6:30 is scheduled musicians. Maine’s Paper & Heritage Museum Open for Tours

The Paper & Heritage Museum will be open for tours and refreshments 4pm to 8pm as part of History Night in Livermore Falls. Tours are free and for all ages. The museum is a non-profit, volunteer organization. All donations go toward museum repairs and operation costs.

Backroad Books read-a-thon!

You're invited to the Backroad Books 12-hour read-a-thon! The event will be May 21 from noon to midnight in the courthouse parking lot adjacent from Java Joes (church street) in Farmington. Bring your book! Bring your camp chair! Bring a few bucks for ice cream from Fresh Ellas! Pledge cards can be picked up at Twice Sold Tales (155 Main Street, Farmington). Katahdin Valley boys

The Vienna Union Hall announced the Katahdin Valley Boys one of Maines’s premiere bluegrass bands will return to the Vienna Union Hall, May 21, 2022 at 7 PM. The group plays traditional bluegrass music throughout the State of Maine and New England area. The band consists of four members who all rotate singing lead and provide beautiful, tight, harmonies and smooth solos. The Katahdin Valley Boys were honored as recipients of the “Bluegrass Band of the Year” award for 2012 by The Maine Country Music Association and in 2008, 2009 and 2011 by the Maine Academy of Country Music.
