Mt. Blue Area Garden Club’s First 2022 Meeting
As those anxious to begin tapping maple trees are now hanging sapping pails, gardeners are anxious to get back to digging in the warm earth. The Mt. Blue Area Garden Club welcomes you to its first meeting of 2022 on March 15, 12:30 at Trinity United Methodist Church on Farmington Falls Road, Farmington. The program will be sharing "Tried and True Gardening Tips." They will also discuss suggestions for speakers and programs for future meetings. Make sure you come if you have tips or suggestions about gardening topics to share. There will not be hostesses at this meeting and members
Farmington Elks Public Take Out Dinner
Farmington Elks Lodge 120 School Street, Farmington, ME, United StatesOn March 26th, the Farmington Elks Lodge will be having a Public Take out dinner located at 120 School Street in West Farmington, Maine, from 4:30pm to 5:30pm. The meal will be Meatloaf, Mashed Potato, Gravy, Vegetable, Bread & dessert. Cost of meals for Adults $10.00, under 12 $5. Deadline for meal reservations is Thursday, March 24th. Blue area Garden Club is pleased to welcome Gary Fish, the Maine State Horticulturist to speak at our 12:30 pm, April 19 meeting held at Trinity United Methodist Church, Farmington Falls, Farmington. He will present "Beetles, Bittersweet, and Buckthorn, OH MY!", focusing on invasive pests in our gardens and forests. A social half hour, prior to the program with light refreshments will be hosted by Tom Saviello, Peg Lang and Amy Palmer. The speaker will begin after a brief business meeting at 1:00. Town of Starks Appeals Board Hearing
The Appeals Board will have a public hearing on a request from New England Clean Energy Connect (NECEC) for an extension variance of their Site Plan and Shoreland Zoning Project in Starks. This variance would grant an 18 month extension until December 2, 2023. Summary: The Site Plan Review Ordinance limits the duration of the Site Plan Approvals to an initial twelve months and two 6 month extensions. NECEC Transmission, LLC would like an additional 18 month extension until December 2, 2023 due to issues beyond their control. UMF - Lincoln AuditoriumWestern Maine Audubon presents “Maine’s Damselflies and Dragonflies” – a presentation by Dr. Ron Butler Western Maine Audubon will sponsor a presentation by Dr. Ron Butler titled, “Maine’s Damselflies and Dragonflies” on Wednesday, May 11th at 7:00 pm in UMF’s Lincoln Auditorium. This presentation—which is open to the general public—will begin with a general overview of the evolution, ecology, and behavior of damselflies and dragonflies (Order Odonata). This will be followed by a brief survey of some of Maine’s 161 known odonate species. Finally, conservation concerns for this important group of insects will be discussed, and resources to facilitate contributions

STRONG HISTORICAL SOCIETY MEETS
STRONG HISTORICAL SOCIETY: The June meeting of the Strong Historical Society will be Wednesday, June 1, 2022, and is open to the public. The Hammond Memorial House, at 79 N. Main Street, will be open at 5:00 p.m. for guests interested in brief tours. Our pot-luck supper will be served for dining at 6:00 p.m. (Bring a dish to share).
