Free Outdoor Art Workshop

Prescott Field in Farmington

Elizabeth Olbert (faculty at UMF) will lead a conversation on the limits of realism and Andrew Wyeth’s depictions of Mainers before guiding participants through a multimedia art workshop. Artists and non-artists are welcome, and all art materials will be provided. Bagels and coffee will be served at 9:30 a.m. Discussion and workshop begin at 10:00 a.m.

Sandy River & Rangeley Lakes Railroad

Trains will depart Sanders station on the hour from 11 AM through 3 PM. You are free to depart on one train and return on a later train should you wish to make use of our picnic grove or simply spend more time exploring the roundhouse and other nearby buildings preserved from the original railroad. The last return train departs the roundhouse area at approximately 3:45 PM. Read more  

FIX-A-BIKE Bike maintenance Workshop for Adults & Teens

The Readfield Community Library and the Dr. Shaw Memorial Library in Mt. Vernon are partnering to offer patrons and area residents an opportunity to participate in a free "Fix-A-Bike" Workshop, with instruction provided by the Bicycle Coalition of Maine. This 2-hour hands-on workshop, open to teens and adults, will cover routine maintenance, roadside repairs, general bicycle mechanics, and how to perform a basic tune-up. Please bring your bike along! All tools and instruction will be provided. Two workshop times/locations will be offered on Wednesday, September 22. From 2:30-4:30pm, a workshop will take place outdoors at the Dr. Shaw Memorial Library

RIDE THE NARROW GAUGE!

RIDE THE NARROW GAUGE! The SRRL RR Museum, 128 Bridge St in Phillips, will operate on Sat Sept 25 and Sun Sept 26. Trains will depart Bridge St at 11AM, 12PM, 1PM, 2PM, and 3PM. The trees are changing, enjoy the scenic splendor along the banks of the Sandy River! Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy! Walk the Flyrod Crosby Trail…. Fare is $6.00 for Adults, $2.00 for Children. Well behaved Dogs on a leash may accompany their humans!
