Western Maine Audubon is pleased to invite the general public to a free, live talk entitled “Ethical Questions for the Outdoor Naturalist,” presented by naturalist Doug Hitchcox on Wednesday, October 13 at 7:00-8:30 pm in UMF Preble Hall’s Thomas Auditorium at 173 High Street in Farmington. Masks and social distancing will be required at the event. Should updated Covid protocols require cancellation of the live talk, it will be live-streamed. 7th Annual Fat-Tire Bike Loppet

Our bike courses take advantage of the beautiful varied terrain we have available here at the Rangeley Lakes Trails Center, from wide straight-a-ways to gradual ascent and descents, to some aggressive hill climb/descent opportunities. Views and possible wildlife sightings are included! Classes include 10 and 20 mile nordic groomed, 10 and 20 mile single track mix, and a 10 mile nordic untimed tour. Western Maine Audubon presents: “Invasive Plants in Maine” a talk by Hunter Manley on March 9th at UMF Western Maine Audubon invites the public to join us on Wednesday, March 9th at 7:00 PM for a live presentation by Hunter Manley entitled “Invasive Plants in Maine.” The talk will be held in the Lincoln Auditorium, Roberts Learning Center, at UMF. Hunter will discuss the impact of invasive plants on Maine wildlife and forestry. The growing prevalence of any of these species threatens the health of their host ecosystems, so identifying them early and planning for treatment is essential for maintaining

The course winds through woodlands north of Saddleback Mountain and includes single track and nordic groomed trails.
