Managing Field Lands for Grassland Birds and Soils for Forever Chemicals

The Phillips Public Library Seed Loan Project presents - Laura Suomi-Lecker is the technical manager of the Ag Allies statewide grassland bird habitat project. She will discuss Maine's grassland-dependent bird species and their conservation, as well as best management practices to improve grassland habitat while maintaining sustainable hay crops. Richard Kersbergen is the Extension Professor for Sustainable Dairy and Forage Systems with the University of Maine Cooperative Extension. Earth Day Volunteer Cleanup

The 9th annual Farmington Earth Day Volunteer Cleanup is being held on Friday April 22nd from 1-3PM. Everyone is welcome to participate: individuals, groups, young and old. Meet at the Pierce House lawn on 204 Main Street anytime between 1 and 3pm. Cleanup for as long as you want. Bags and gloves are provided by the Farmington Public Works Department. This presentation—which is open to the general public—will begin with a general overview of the evolution, ecology, and behavior of damselflies and dragonflies (Order Odonata).
