United Way’s 5 Card Float down the Sandy River

United Way of the Tri-Valley Area will host its first 5 Card Float down the Sandy River on June 26th. Put-in will be at the Fairbanks Bridge between 10am and 12pm. Take-out will be at DHHS in Farmington. There will be shuttle service to get you back to your vehicle at the Fairbanks Bridge. Feel free to float, paddle, swim etc. – whatever floats goes! Just remember as with every event that United Way hosts, that money raised from this event gets invested directly back into our community – through valued community partners and through programs like the Hope Fund,

VFW Post #10881 in Farmington will be holding a chicken barbecue fundraiser on June 26 from 11am - 4pm at Farmington Ford, Rts. 2 & 4 in Farmington. Proceeds go to support other Veterans in need. For a $10 donation, you can enjoy 1/2 chicken, chips and a drink. Tickets are available at Farmington Ford (Mon. - Fri., 8am - 6pm) or at Our Village Market in New Vineyard. The Annual Car Show is being held at the same time. Thank you for your support!

Break up your enforced staycation and join the Pickwick Club for a three-part VIRTUAL discussion of Charles Dickens’s Bleak House. The meetings are on Saturdays, February 27, April 24, and June 26, from 12:30–2:30 p.m. In normal times we meet at the Auburn Public Library, our kind sponsor, but during these “other” times we meet via Zoom. The Pickwick Club is Maine’s Charles Dickens Reading and Appreciation Group; we also explore other great Victorian writers and all things Victoriana in general.
