Blue Stocking Salon Fall 2021 Cohort “Bluestocking” refers to learned mid-eighteenth-century women (and men) who gathered in the great salons of London for intellectual conversation and witty banter. This literary salon “enjoyed society in undress” – that is, in their more practical country clothing, most notably their blue worsted stockings. The Bluestockings expanded the social boundaries of what women could think, write, and do. Modern-day bluestockings are distinctly unbound, intellectually curious women. Blue Area Garden Club Meeting will welcome Gretchen Legler, Professor of Creative Writing at the University of Maine, Farmington where  she will share her experience and knowledge on "Flower and Herbal Companions to Vegetables". Members and guests will learn about the flowers and herbs that can be planted with your vegetables to make them happy! The meeting will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, Farmington Falls Rd., Farmington with a social time at 5:30pm, followed by a business meeting and speaker at 6:00pm.
