The Rangeley Friends of the Arts has received a Discovery Grant from the Onion Foundation to host Storytelling Workshops. The workshops will be held twice a month with an opportunity to perform monthly. Come craft your story with our favorite funny man, storyteller extraordinaire and RLRS English teacher, Tim Straub. Come join the experience of celebrating Easter morning way up on Sugarloaf. Please arrive early and overdress! It’s always much colder than you think. Bring a headlamp if you have one; some people find that helpful getting to where we stand for the service. Meet at the base of the Super Quad Chair. Lift will load from 5:00-5:05 AM only Sunday morning, April 17th. No lift ticket required. You must ski/board down. The Appeals Board will have a public hearing on a request from New England Clean Energy Connect (NECEC) for an extension variance of their Site Plan and Shoreland Zoning Project in Starks. This variance would grant an 18 month extension until December 2, 2023. Summary: The Site Plan Review Ordinance limits the duration of the Site Plan Approvals to an initial twelve months and two 6 month extensions. NECEC Transmission, LLC would like an additional 18 month extension until December 2, 2023 due to issues beyond their control. The Phillips Public Library Seed Loan Project presents - Laura Suomi-Lecker is the technical manager of the Ag Allies statewide grassland bird habitat project. She will discuss Maine's grassland-dependent bird species and their conservation, as well as best management practices to improve grassland habitat while maintaining sustainable hay crops. Richard Kersbergen is the Extension Professor for Sustainable Dairy and Forage Systems with the University of Maine Cooperative Extension. The 9th annual Farmington Earth Day Volunteer Cleanup is being held on Friday April 22nd from 1-3PM. Everyone is welcome to participate: individuals, groups, young and old. Saturday, April 23, 7:30 p.m. Nordica Auditorium, Merrill Hall Doors will open at 7:10 PM. The performance is free and open to the public. Come join the UMF chorus as they sing a cappella contemporary choral works from all over the world including England, Newfoundland, Brazil and the United States. The UMF Chorus will conclude the concert with a performance of Stephen Sondheim’s Broadway Musical, Sweeney Todd.

ArtsFarmington is excited to announce the return of Maine Mountain Chamber Music to Nordica Auditorium on Sunday April 24th at 3:00 PM. MMCM founders Yuri Funahashi, piano, and Laurie Kennedy, viola, will be joined by violinist Charles Dimmick and cellist Leo Eguchi. The program consists of Zoltan Kodaly’s Duo for Violin and Cello and Gabriel Fauré’s Piano Quartet in C minor. Adult tickets are $15, those 18 and under are free as are UMF students with ID. Barbara Hathaway, Painter of Sunset, is offering two Plein Air Watercolor Painting Workshops through the Adult Education Program, April 26, 2022, Tuesday, 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, at 32 Maple St. Wilton, and May 3rd, Tuesday, 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the same location. Each workshop is $48 per person. Students bring their own Watercolor supplies with 140 lb. Watercolor paper and their own easel. Student can also use Acrylic with a canvas not larger than 16" x 20". Better Health with Diabetes is a free mail order toolkit for those who have or are at risk of diabetes and/or their caregivers. Participants must pre-register to receive their toolkit workshop materials and work with a certified leader via telephone or ZOOM at predetermined times either by yourself or in small groups. This process allows the participant all of the educational benefits of the Living Well with Diabetes workshop and equips them with tools to effectively manage their ongoing condition(s), all while maintaining social distancing from their home.
