David Mallett’s most recent release, Celebration (2016), is a 10 song collection with themes ranging from resilience to despair to the boundless promise of a new generation. Known for writing songs like the Garden Song, recorded by Pete Seeger and John Denver, Mallett, a Maine native, wrote and recorded in Nashville in the 80s. Adventurers Paul and Cynthia Stancioff present an engaging display of photos and dialogue recounting their recent voyage in the Quetico Provincial Park of Western Ontario. The presentation will reveal tips and techniques for provisioning a 10-12 day wilderness canoe trip including a display of their gear which they have refined during a number of trips to the region over a period of four decades. Now in their sixties, the Stancioffs maintain that travelling to Quetico is well worth the effort due to the quality and scale of the contiguous wilderness found there.

Timothy Burris – “The Presence of the Past”
In the first half of the performance Timothy Burris plays baroque music from ca 1650 to 1720 on baroque lute, the second half is devoted to guitar music of the 20th through the 21st century. The title “Presence of the Past” refers to the resurfacing of baroque and renaissance styles in the later modern guitar music. Timothy Burris is presently on the faculties of applied music of the Portland Conservatory of Music and Colby College. He received a performance degree in lute from the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and holds a PhD from Duke University. He has widely appeared
