WILTON – The credit card company Barclays announced today it will be adding 25 new jobs to its call center at the Nichols-Bass Building on the Weld Road in the first quarter of 2009. Barclaycard US, the credit card business of Barclays PLC, opened a customer care facility here last May and currently employs 70 people.
Plans call for Barclaycard to expand its footprint on the second floor of its facility in the former G.H. Bass facility from 44 to 112 work stations. The group will also add more conference room and administrative space.
“Barclaycard is very pleased with the workforce in Franklin County,” said Jen McEntee, director, Wilton CareCenter. “Our Maine colleagues have fantastic experience in various service industries, are quick learners and appreciate all that our company has to offer as an employer.”
Employees of the call center provide customer support for card members who participate in the 64 co-branded credit card partnership programs offered by Barclaycard in the U.S. Barclaycard also operates a customer care center in Wilmington, Del.
“Just a few short months ago we announced the entry of Barclaycard to Maine,” said Governor John E. Baldacci. “We knew then of the reputation of Barclaycard as a high-quality employer, and they have lived up to that promise, becoming a valued corporate partner to Wilton and to Maine. We are pleased that they have chosen to expand their operations in Wilton, providing opportunities for the dedicated work force there.”
Barclaycard is currently working to fill these new customer service positions at the Wilton facility. For more information on available positions and employment opportunities, please visit www.JoinBarclays.com.
