WILTON – The body of a man found in a car parked in a lot off Weld Road has been identified.

Police say Joshua Betts, 23, of Scarborough, was found dead at 2:07 p.m. Saturday by an unidentified woman. The body was found slumped over in the front passenger seat of a dark green Subaru station wagon with New York state plates. The vehicle was parked in a cleared area near a parked tractor trailer and a pick-up truck with a plow.

Results of the medial examiner’s autopsy is expected soon, according to a press release issued by the Wilton Police Department.

“Mr. Betts had no family or friends in the Wilton area,” according to a press release issued today.

Identification of Betts was withheld until family members could be notified, police said. The investigation continues, but Wilton Police Chief Dennis Brown has called the death “not suspicious.”

  1. How is this not suspicious, no friends or family in area, NewYork plates and in passenger seat?

  2. This does seem suspicious to me, very strange, I hope we are updated on the whole story when it is found out.

  3. Kathleen, everything they are currently telling us sounds fishy. I imagine that there are many aspects that they have yet to reveal which lead them to believe that there was no foul play involved. If this kid went to sleep and died of exposure than there would be no signs of trauma thus no reason to suspect foul play. If I wanted to sleep in a Subaru Outback I would move over to the passenger seat so I could recline and not have the steering wheel in the way.

  4. I knew this kid from work and it doesn’t seem normal to me. I think that the most suspicious thing is that he’s sitting in the passenger’s seat. It could very well be his car, it was mentioned to me that he had plates from out of state, but the fact that he is sitting in the passengers seat suggests that someone was in the car with him.
