Matt Wotton, at left,  president of the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce and Ivan Gould, membership vice president for the Chamber, welcome attendees to the Business After Hours at the Chamber’s new location. More than 100 people gathered to celebrate the move to the former Mountain View Chocolate Shoppe at 248 Wilton Road. Wotton thanked the many volunteers and donors who helped renovate the former shop into a warm welcome center.

To Wotton’s left, Lorna Dee Nichols, executive director of the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce, said
she was pleased with the new location that will provide better exposure to the Wilton Road and space for a welcome center and meetings. “It’s very festive, don’t you think?” Nichols said. The former location was a few miles west at 407 Wilton Road, next to the Fabric Inn. The Mountain View Chocolate Shoppe, which was located at the Chamber’s new site, moved and reopened in West Farmington, next to the Post Office, earlier this year.

  1. Ok I think its great that the Chamber has moved to a new location But…..
When you had your celebration on Thursday evening you couldn’t get to the Big Apple
to pump gas. The parking lot was so full that you couldn’t get to the pumps
comfortably to fill your tank then leave…I am sure I am not the only person who
is going to complain and apologize to the Big Apple because I and others had to get
    fuel from somewhere else….
You plan on future meetings…What will happen to the Big Apple if people can’t
enter the building if functions of that size continues????

  2. As the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce president, I would like to apologize on the behalf of our board of directors and membership for any inconvenience that may have occurred during our 2 hour Business After Hours event on Thursday Feb 27th. I do believe in the long run, as was evident at our function, we will create an increased traffic flow into the neighboring gas station/c-store that will surely out weigh any small disruptions. The same should be true for the restaurant across the street. Each of these businesses will be approached personally with an apology.

Personally, I thought the event was an overwhelming success. The turn out far exceeded our expectations. With the decline in the overall economy and slow downs with many local businesses it was great to be able to create some excitement in the local business community. We, as a chamber, look forward to helping in every way that is possible to promote Franklin County and our area businesses in a way that will help to weather the current downturn.

Thank you to all who have supported the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce!!
