OQUOSSOC – Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust and EcoVenture Camp for Kids! is looking forward to its 13th season of exciting activities in the great outdoors.

Under our newly expanded format, EcoVenture will run four days per week for seven weeks. Each week will include old favorites such a hiking, paddling, swimming, art, and low ropes, as well as a few new ones like tennis and sailing. The program is partnering with the Rangeley Region Health and Wellness Partnership to provide physical fitness and nutrition activities that get kids moving and playing in new and dynamic ways.

Rangeley school children can attend camp all season for $50 (each additional camper in a family is just $25), while RLHT members can attend for only $100/week ($50 for each additional camper). And campers from MSAD 58 whose parents work in Rangeley can attend for a special rate – please call 864-7311 ext 6 for details!

EcoVenture will meet Tuesdays through Fridays from July 5th to Aug. 19th. Each day will start at 8:50 a.m. and end at 2:45 p.m. For the convenience of busy moms and dads, we will provide free transportation from predetermined bus stops. Campers can register for just one week or any combination of weeks, and we will try to fill every request. And, thanks to the generosity of our members, we will provide camper scholarships to eligible families if cost is an obstacle to attending.

For campers entering grades 6 through 8, we will offer two overnight expeditions (July 15/16 and August 5/6, from 4 pm Friday to 1 pm Saturday) at an affordable rate. Led by our seasoned and professional staff, campers will hike, paddle, cook over an open fire, and sleep under the stars. And we are hoping to offer a two night expedition with rafting in late August. For more details on these great trips, please contact the EcoVenture office at 864-7311 (Ext. 6) or email us at ecoventure@rlht.org .

We will deliver registration packets to all Rangeley school children by May 20th. And we will post the packets on our website (www.rlht.org) and send them to folks on our mailing list by May 23rd. To secure a space at camp (they fill up fast) and to avoid late fees, please mail in, drop off, or fax your camper’s registration packet(s) and fee(s) by June 10th.

EcoVenture is supported through the generous contributions of our members, friends, and several Maine foundations. Without this help, we could not provide this exceptional opportunity to local and visiting children. If you would like to join the team of EcoVenture supporters and make a tax deductible contribution to this treasured program, please contact Bill Pierce at 864-7311 (Ext. 3). Or if you would like to help us spruce up the base camp or volunteer during camp, please call us at 864-7311 (Ext 6 ) or email us at ecoventure@rlht.org.
