FARMINGTON – Franklin Memorial Hospital celebrated Hospital Week with a series of activities over the past few days, culminating in a food drive and an ice cream social today.

Departments competed to donate the most items, assembling 1,100 cans, boxes and jars of non perishables to help seven local food pantries: Wilton Area Food Pantry, Clearwater Ministry in Industry, Carthage Food Bank, Phillips Area Food Pantry, United Methodists Economic Ministry Food Bank in Salem, Tri-Town Ministerial Food Cupboard in Livermore Falls and Church of the Good Shepard in Rangeley.

Other activities this week included a talent show, healthy bake-off and a concert. “Giving back to the community” was the theme for the final day of Hospital Week, a federally-recognized observance.

Accounting took first prize in the “large department” category, with Healthy Community Coalition taking second place. Clinical Documentation took first prize for the “small department” category, and Franklin Health Access came in second.
