“I heard something running through the tall grass…”

This picture was taken by Shanna M. Martin, who was out taking pictures when she heard something behind her house. “When he finally showed his face about 20 or so feet away I thought ‘cool, someone’s house cat,’ Martin wrote. “Then… Oh my God, that’s not a house cat, it’s a Bobcat!”

  1. That is a fantastic photo. Do we know what town the bobcat was spotted? I have never seen a bobcat in the wild. This one looks very healthy.

  2. Thank you for your comments! I saw the Bobcat in Farmington, out in the woods off Route 2. The story said that I saw him behind my house-I’d be pretty nervous if that was the case, since I live in town. I’ll probably never see him again, but the experience will be forever etched in my mind. Thanks for the feedback, it is greatly appreciated !

  3. A little over 1 week ago, I spotted the animal sitting on the front lawn of a home on Bailey Hill. Just as you pass Osborne road, heading toward Weeks Mills road, there is a farm on the left then a couple houses. There it was, just sitting in the middle of the lawn of one of the houses to the left. At first glance I thought it was someones dog or large cat sitting there till I stopped the car after my second glance. I had no means to take a photo or of course I would have. Needless to say I have traveled back and forth through there many times since with nothing being spotted. Wonder if this is going to start becoming a problem around here due to high amounts of rainfall in the previous few months pushing these guys down out of the mountains they call home.
