Mt. Abram girls suffer same fate as boys for MVC soccer title

FARMINGTON – It all came down to penalty kicks. Again.

After the Mt. Abram boys lost out to Lisbon High School after coming up short in overtime penalty kicks, the Lady Roadrunners (14-0) playing after the boys did the same thing.

After a 0-0 score by game’s end and two overtime periods not producing a game winner, the Lady Greyhounds, (11-1-2) out scored Mt. Abram, 3-1, in penalty kicks to claim the Mountain Valley Conference girls’ soccer championship. The game was played at Mt. Blue High School on Saturday.

Senior goalie Kenni Norton stopped four for Mt. Abram but the Greyhounds midfielders Stevanie Roy and Tara Metzger and forward Brooke Lawrence each knocked in a PK for the win.

Senior midfielder Rachel Fullerton successfully made her penalty kick for Mt. Abram’s lone point.
