Restored Rangeley building unveiled on Main Street

2 mins read

After weeks of being veiled in secrecy by an opaque plastic drop cloth, the new front of 2485 Main Street, Rangeley is finally revealed to cheers from a crowd of locals gathered for the occasion.

Birgitta Parker and her daughter make the final inspection prior to revealing the newly-renovated front of their building.

RANGELEY – A restored building on Main Street was unveiled earlier this week, with drop cloths being torn away to reveal the renovated facade to an excited crowd.

The former hardware store received a complete makeover from John and Birgitta Parker, of Oquossoc, and will provide a home for two apartments, three rental spaces and a restaurant, The Corner Store, which will be owned and operated by Brigitta Parker.

Another refurbished space will house an expansion of The Farmer’s Daughter, out of Oquossoc. Owners Nate and Jess Nichols will sell local produce, baked goods, fine cheeses, gourmet goodies, wine and beer. Also moving in will be a new business in town, Allied Realty. Mark Schoenthaler, a local real estate agent, has partnered with Aaron Bolster, owner of Allied Realty in Skowhegan, and opened a branch office here in Rangeley.

Special features of the building’s renovation include saving the original wood floors on the first floor, exposing a beautiful rock wall on the lower floor that serves as the building’s foundation wall, and redesigned the main entrance to reflect the original design from the early 20th century.

Rangeley locals, Dick and Barb Wigton, test out the new benches in front of the new facade of what many folks will remember as the old Scribner’s building at 2485 Main Street.

  1. Very nice, I have many fond memories of sitting on those steps with all the locals while growing up in Rangeley. It’s nice to see those old buildings are being renovated.
