FARMINGTON – The teen who was stabbed last week in the downtown area is home from the hospital and recovering as police continue to search for a suspect.

A 16-year-old boy was stabbed three times just after 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 20, while walking between the buildings that face Broadway. After the attack, police said the victim walked about a block up Broadway and went into the Pine Tree U.S. Cellular store to get help.

Suffering from superficial wounds, he was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital and then transferred to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

Following the report, officers with the Farmington Police Department and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department searched the downtown area for the suspect or witnesses to the stabbing.

“We believe the suspect knew the victim, but the victim doesn’t know the suspect,” Detective Marc Bowering said today.

Meanwhile, the victim has been released from the Lewiston hospital and is recovering at his home in Pittsfield, as police “continue to follow up on leads,” Bowering said.

Police are asking for the public’s help in solving this case. Call 778-6312, if you know something that can help in this investigation.
