Tranten’s is open for business

1 min read

FARMINGTON –  A steady stream of customers check out the new Tranten’s grocery store that opened in the former Howard’s Rexall on Main Street today. Neal Tranten, one of the co-owners, said it’s good to be opening after spending three months renovating the building that included pretty much gutting the old space and installing all new wiring, ceiling, flooring, counters and knocking out a few walls to expand the store’s area. More good news is that 25 employees – 13 full-time – have been hired. Still to get up and running and stocked are coolers in the store and in the deli section and the Amato’s sandwich counter, which are all expected to be up and running on Wednesday. The store also offers a large “coffee bar” near the deli section and entrance doors facing Main Street and the parking lot, which comes with precious designated spaces for patrons of the store. Store hours are: 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. everyday.

Jamie Thompson, 5, of Farmington holds up her entry in Tranten’s coloring contest to win a giant stuffed Teddy bear on the store’s opening day.
