10 mins read

Polls were open Tuesday for the state’s first Presidential Primary in 20 years, as well as Question 1, a People’s Veto attempting to reverse last year’s elimination of philosophical and religious exemptions to immunization requirements for students and others.

  1. I’m shocked, haha, that Franklin Cty (Farmington in particular) voted for socialism. Where’s my free stuff?? At least they want their children free of horrible diseases while they suffer another way.

  2. Captain Planet, right on time, popping in with a close minded, low information view.

Has it ever occurred to you that those who support left wing politics are not people clamoring for “free stuff” so they can sit on their backside all day, but rather have the hope that their fellow men and women – of all walks of life – will be able to live a comfortable, full, opportunistic life for themselves?

I’m sure you know someone who uses social programs such as Social Security or Medicare, perhaps even yourself, and it is helping them immensely. Take away a retired couple’s “free stuff” and see how they’d be.

For “Captain Planet”, you don’t seem to care about the “Planet” at all, just yourself.

  3. Putting question 1 on a Democratic primary ballot was politics at it’s best. Put that same question back on in November when all party’s are headed to the poles and then let’s recount. Oh and We vaccinate!

  4. Hey Chuckles, Social Security and Medicare ? Your statement
” I’m sure you know someone who uses social programs such as Social Security or Medicare, perhaps even yourself, and it is helping them immensely. Take away a retired couple’s “free stuff” and see how they’d be”
You do know that we the taxpayers pay into this system and it is not FREE STUFF even though they like to call it an entitlement.
Please do some basic research to enlighten yourself.
And in regards to helping our fellow man and women my I suggest volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, this should keep you off your backside.

  5. Ok Janet you got your way.
Now,, “IF” this is truly about health,,, (eyeroll),
I assume you’ll have needles ready at Maines Southern Border this Tourist Season in case any of “them” haven’t been vaccinated……..
    No Vaccines,,, No Maine Vscation!!

    OR,,,
YOU COULD JUST BUILD A WALL TO CONTROL IT.!!!
    BUILD THAT WALL!!

    (now that’s funny right there).
    Yuck yuck.

  6. Everyone with a job can look at their pay stub and see how much they contribute to their social security each week, plus that amount is matched by their employer. There is also an entry for Medicare, these are not free give away but programs installed to help with much earned retirements.Chuck, check your pay stub as you will find you are probably paying your way too.

  7. Seth Webber, It had to be on this ballot, it’s the law and has been in the state constitution since 1907.

Chuckles, Everybody already does have the same opportunities as everybody else, just not the same outcomes, all the tools have been provided, if people are not going to use them properly, well, that is on them. Nobody says “Hey, drop out of school and have a kid, it will be the most rewarding experience of your life.”

If you want a BMW, you work and buy one, you don’t get to take the BMW of the person who did work and bought one, because that person has enough money to buy another one. Life isn’t fair and there are people who will be rich and those who will squander their middle life and then reach a point where, they say, “Why am I a 50yr old cashier at Walmart?” Life tends to give people what they put into it. I know people who busted their butt and now own a house, multiple cars, and earn a fairly good living, I also know people who thought partying was funner than work and are now homeless. It is all about the choices we make.

  8. Chuckles, I guess you really never have worked in your life, otherwise I would think you’d know how Social Security and Medicare are funded. Sadly most liberals think your comment made perfect sense.

  9. Yes, we had a request to post Starks and Vienna results. Those results were not included in the Franklin County totals.

  10. Seth Webber,
Question 1 was NOT on the Democratic Primary ballot, it was on a completely separate ballot. The Republican Primary was also held yesterday, so all parties DID vote yesterday.

  11. Mr Fish,
I’ll explain Seth’s good point that you missed.
The Reps only had one name to vote for do why bother.
The Dems are still thinning out their herd, so their vote actually did something.
The point being that this was lopsided Dems . In November more Reps will come out.
Hey,,,, it’s politics. The Gov has the edge.

Welk, I gotta go get pricked.
    Dang.

    See Ya’ll in November!!

  12. Seth I agree very much. Yes Dave, they were on seperate ballots but we were down about 1400 voters in Farmington from 2016 presidential election. Some don’t come out for primaries when there parties candidate is already determined.

  13. I voted Yes on 1.
    So, not “thrilled”.
I “blame/ credit” our Duly elected Gov for pushing this thru.
A Duly Elected Official will naturally push “their” agenda,, not their opponents.
    Seems to make sense eh?
As strongly as i disagree with thus vaccine law, I now have to accept it.

Our President is pushing his agenda (as they all do).
And we have senators threatening Judges now in anticipation that they will vote a certain way.
As if they are demanding a conservative president to appoint liberal judges….. “What”??!!!!

    Elections Have Real Consequences.
    Frickin Babies.

  14. Since this vaccine law is about children’s health and pushed by the Democrats,
I ask these same Democrats to demand that House Democrats stop blocking The Born Alive Abortion Survivors Act.
This is to provide medical care to a baby that “somehow” survived an abortion attempt. Rather than just let it die.
The Democrat Majority is 100% responsible for the fact that this bill isn’t allowed to go forward.
So, here’s the local Dems chance to prove they really do care about children’s health.
Like saving a childs life for goodness sakes.

  15. And the day before, we had a president demanding 2 SCOTUS justices stay out of cases that involve him. Yet I hear none of the right wingers complaining about that. Its a goose and gander thing, eh?

  16. @ seth weber. I’d buy your theory except for the fact that Trump had more votes than the combined Democrat vote in many of the towns and the “no” votes carried EVERY town.

Silent majority is a better explanation for “no” success.

  17. I am curious if people who voted “Yes on 1” in the name of medical freedom also believe in abortion? Not trying to start a debate about abortion, just trying to see the logic behind supporting one but not the other – at least in the name of “medical freedom”.

  18. In today’s era, all parties are frickin babies. Just the reaction form he majority of Yes on 1 people in this space shows it. I am sure the No on 1 would have made the same noise if they lost

You see it on the bumper stickers like “Don’t blame me, I voted Republican/Democrat”
No one on either side can handle loosing anymore.

And we have a President who routinely threatens judges and witnesses. The body rots from the head down.

  19. ” I am just saying” is exactly right.

I always hesitate to watch the “news” anymore because it’s nothing but war drums and the most negative crap they can find.
If they can’t find it, THEY MAKE SOMETHING UP.
    WHY?
    Because that’s what sells.
They are just giving the customer what they will buy.

Ahhhhhh, Thank God for The Prince Of Peace.
    We all need a breather,,
    I know I do.

  20. Everyone is full of blame for each of these situations. So are we saying that special arrangements should have been made for a vote because Republicans were “less likely” to vote? Ridiculous.
