RANGELEY – Setting up of the broadcast studio of Rangeley’s Community Radio station WRGY began in earnest last week when Dan Patterson, Ron Hoar, and David McMillan began retro-fitting a portion of the Lakeside Theater.
“Studio preparations will continue as we await delivery of our transmitting antenna in the coming weeks,” noted TRANET President David McMillan. “Timely donations made it possible for us to order this custom transmitter. When it arrives and is installed on Saddleback, a licensed engineer can test our signal and make the FCC required inspections.”
The FM stereo station will be broadcasting at 90.5 under the auspices of TRANET, an educational 501(c)(3) non-profit founded in Rangeley by Bill and Margaret Ellis.
“In the meantime,” McMillan said, “a few volunteers are configuring studio equipment, working on playlists, and pre-recording announcements. Of course were hoping more individuals and groups will step forward to help with this exciting project through sponsorships for specific programming, in-kind donations and the like.”
I have a camp at Chain of Ponds. Will I be able to receive the station there? Is it a full-power FM? Will it have NPR?
