Students at Cascade Brook School in Farmington may be young, but they understand the effect the stalled economy is having on residents – and they wanted to make a difference. Students in Mrs. Taylor’s 4th grade classroom decided to collect non-perishable food items for the Care & Share Food Closet, and Mrs. Cook’s students held a bake sale before the annual art show at the school, raising $87 in record time. Cascade Brook partnered with the United Way of the Tri-Valley Area on this charitable effort. Lisa Laflin, Executive Director of the United Way, picked up the donated food and monetary contribution, spoke about the importance of community and philanthropy and congratulated them on their efforts.
