FARMINGTON – The Franklin County Children’s Task Force  recently received a $5,000 grant from the Western Mountains Fund of the Maine Community Foundation to support fathers in their roles as parents in Franklin County.

“This grant will allow us to target the specific needs of the fathers in Franklin County to ensure we are on the right track in identifying that both mom and dad are integral parts of their child’s life,” said Renee Blanchet, Executive Director of the Franklin County Children’s Task Force. “This program will also give dads a voice of their own, and help them understand why their parenting is unique and how important their role is.”

This group will begin in June with male facilitation and be held at the FCCTF office building on Church Street. Anyone wishing to attend is encouraged to call the FCCTF office to register at 778-6960.

For 25 years the Maine Community Foundation has been partnering with donors and community groups to strengthen Maine through grants and scholarships. For more information, visit the foundation’s website at www.mainecf.org or call toll free 1-877-700-6800.
