CSP Program Farmers Encouraged to Attend Workshop on Energy Audits

1 min read

FARMINGTON – Farmers who participate in the USDA’s NRCS (Natural Resource Conservation Service) Conservation Security Program (CSP), and opted for a 2009 energy audit as part of the program should attend an energy audit workshop at Henry Hardy’s Farm in Farmington on Friday, Nov. 21 at 10:30 am. – 12:30 pm.

Farmers will learn how energy audits work and get the information necessary to sign up for them. Paul Hersey, NRCS District Conservationist, Farmington, said farmers want to sign up as soon as possible to make sure they obtain the audits within the specified time frame. The workshop will also include presentations on small scale wind systems and dairy equipment. Part of the audit presentation will be outside so people attending should dress accordingly.

The Farm Energy Audit Workshop is sponsored by the Western Mountains Alliance, a member of the Maine Rural Partners Farm Energy Partners Network, and Franklin County Soil and Water Conservation District. The presentation is funded by a federal USDA Risk Management Agency grant for the Network’s Harvesting Clean Energy Program. The workshop is free but registration is requested. Please call 778-3885 or email info@westernmountainsalliance.org for more information.
