FARMINGTON – The leaves are clogging the gutters and laughs are filling the aisles of Mt. Blue High School’s auditorium as the Mt. Blue Curtain Raisers Improv Troupe return to the stage, Thursday and Friday, October 23rd and 24th at 7:30 p.m. The group will deliver its new show, “It Shall Be Unlawful,” and even the actors don’t really know what the title means either.

The Mt. Blue Curtain Raisers perform a combination of improv games in the vein of Whose Line Is It Anyway? and longer, more extended comic scenes based on suggestions provided by the audience. The group’s recent workshop and performance at ImprovBoston injected another dose of organized comedic chaos to the formula. Audiences can expect favorite games like “Excuses” and “Diagnosis,” but are warned: no show is ever the same twice.

With each fall comes a new crew of Curtain Raisers, featuring returning veterans and rookie comedians. Four-year member Zoe Hardy and fellow experienced comics Carolyn Magri, Morgen Hall, Nick Beach, Jessica Baxter, Anthea Fletcher, and Jakob Wyder welcome Stuart Lawson, Joseph Slater, Alex Allen and Morgan Spencer to the clan.

“It Shall Be Unlawful” marks the official start of a Curtain Raisers season guaranteed to bring the group’s patent pending brand of original improv comedy to audiences near and far. The group has some grand ambitions for this season and this is western Maine’s chance to be part of it from the beginning. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. with showtime at 7:30 p.m. Admission is only $3.00 for an hour and a half of goodness. For more information, contact Artistic Director, Dan Ryder, at dryder@msad9.org.
