Farmington Recreation Department announces Winter Break in a Box

2 mins read

FARMINGTON – Farmington Recreation Department will be offering a pandemic-friendly alternative to students on February vacation next week; the “Winter Break in a Box” experience will be available for up to 60 children between the ages of six and 12 who attend school in the Regional School Unit 9 district.

The box will contain a mixture of sensory, S.T.E.M., and craft projects, as well as outdoor activities for children to complete during February break week. Activities consist of sledding, ice skating, building a snow or nature fort, enjoying a campfire outside, as well as other fun activities. A bingo sheet with all of these activities will be included in the box. For every bingo of activities crossed off, your child’s name will be entered for another chance into a random drawing to win one of the twelve prizes we are offering. The grand prize will be a Nintendo Switch Lite.

Participants can also send in a photo of themselves with their two favorite activities they completed during the week for even more chances to win. Photos will be shared on the Rec. Department Facebook page and in other marketing materials.

Parents or guardians may register their child or children for this program by contacting the Farmington Recreation Department at 207-778-3464. Again, there is a limit of 60 children to participate and it is first come first serve.

Activity sheets and photos must be submitted to the Recreation Department by no later than Feb. 24. A total of twelve prizes will be given out by random draw selection via video posted on the “Farmington Parks and Recreation Department” Facebook page at Facebook.com/Farmingtonrec on Feb. 27 at 5 p.m.

More detail and instructions will be included in the box. Children are only allowed to win one prize in the random drawing and each child will have a 1-in-5 chance to win a prize.
