FARMINGTON – Upright Frameworks, LLC, a Wilton-based, family-owned company that specializes in energy efficient structures, is teaming up with the Homestead Restaurant to host a free public workshop on energy saving strategies for homeowners seeking to cut their expenses.

The workshop will take place on Earth Day, Wednesday, April 22nd, at 5pm in the parlor of the Homestead Restaurant, at 186 Broadway in downtown Farmington. Upright Frameworks is providing free expert advice and the Homestead is providing the venue.

In a time of turbulent fuel prices and economic uncertainty, the workshop is intended to teach Mainers sensible ways to slash their home’s energy usage and how to take advantage of government incentives. The cost of heating a home in Maine averages over $2,500 per year. Attendees are encouraged to share their ideas and those who cannot afford professional guidance will have access to a certified energy auditor.

“I started these workshops after my retired neighbor asked me for advice on some expensive energy-saving measures he was considering. I knew I had to do something to help Mainers cut through the confusion that surrounds the many products and services being marketed as ‘energy savers’ for the home. Replacement windows, for instance, are almost never a smart investment when it comes to saving energy,” said Upright Frameworks Owner Joshua Wojcik.
