Maple Sunday celebrated throughout Franklin County

1 min read

STRONG – Day Mountain Maple Products participated in Maine Maple Sunday this March.

The owner, Collin Neal, says that he has been sugaring (making sugar from Acer Saccharum). He had decided some years previously that he would like to try his hand at this Maine tradition, and ever since 2003, when the sap runs, has been out working it.

The evaporating shed was crowded, with a group of about twenty people looking around and asking questions, while the fog boiled out of the sap condensed overhead. Maple syrup was, of course, for sale, as well as a variety of other products.

In East Dixfield at Hall Farms, there was a pancake breakfast – running until 2:30 PM – and the sugaring sheds were only visible across several fields. Members of the family-owned business were answering questions and helping the many visitors get what they wanted from the extensive store.

Hall Farms, in East Dixfield, saw steady traffic throughout the day.
