FARMINGTON – Future Business Leaders of America members from around the state gathered at the annual convention in South Portland last week.

One hundred eighty six members and their chapter advisers attended the two-day conference. Every year, FBLA members from all chapters in Maine participate in a State Service Project. This year, the project was to help raise money for Cystic Fibrosis. As a whole, FBLA members raised $1956.29!

Mt. Blue High School was able to bring 19 students and two advisors, pictured above, to the conference and as usual, they had much success in the various business related competitions. Members of the MBHS chapter were able to earn two gold medals, six silver medals, and 10 bronze medals.

Students who achieved these awards include: Danielle Welch, Jenna Lemieux, Liz Leclair, Pat Hart, Marlie Mochamer, Kelly Yardley, Chelsea McGraw, Avonlea Dwight, Mike Cormier, Tayrn Kennedy and Aaron Welch. Club members participated in events such as impromptu public speaking, submitting a scrapbook containing all the events the chapter has organized/participated in, business related testing and more. This conference is a wonderful opportunity for students to meet other people with similar business related interests and compete in a fun and educational environment.
