JAY – Richard Caton, IV, 28 of Wilton, has returned to the Jay Police Department, Police Chief Larry White, Sr. announced this week.

Caton joined the Jay Police Department in 2003 and graduated from the Maine Criminal Justice Academy in 2004. He left the department in May of 2007 to work for the Wilton Police department as a lieutenant.

“We are very pleased to welcome Officer Richard Caton back to the department,” White said. “He is an experienced officer who is a true team player and has a strong community policing philosophy.”

Caton began his new patrolling the town of Jay on April 2. “Officer Caton has always displayed a high standard of professional conduct and eagerly accepts formidable challenges,” White said.

Officer Richard Caton comes from a family of law enforcement. His father and mother are in law enforcement and a brother used to work as an officer in Livermore Falls. Officer Caton replaces Stephen Wilkinson who left the department last month.

“I am sure that the Town of Jay will be well served with the return of Officer Caton,” White concluded.
