Still sharp as a saw: Phillips native Lewis Abbott is 90

PHILLIPS – A surprise 90th birthday party for Lewis Abbott of Phillips, was given by family at the home of his grandson and granddaughter-in-law Aaron And Dulcey Holbrook.

A buffet dinner was served to about 110 friends and relatives. A cake was made by his daughter-in-law Katherine Abbott in the form of a chainsaw with the saying “90 years old and still sharp as a saw.” The cake was cut and served by Dulcey.

Decorations were in fall colors and leaves with an orange candle in the center of the stand. Family pictures and a “Happy Birthday” sign surrounding the center piece. A decorated Longaberger Basket with leaves for cards and Halloween lights were strung outdoors, created by granddaughter Taren Bate. Kathy’s Karaoke of Stratton provided music.

A lumberman with many hobbies and still loves to hunt, have visitors, family gatherings, and watch the great grandchildren.

Lewis is the son of the late Harold and Velma Keef Abbott. He married the former Mertie Huntington on March 11, 1944. He has two children Elaine Holbrook and Michael Abbott. Five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and expects his first great great grandson in early December.
