Afterschool bomb threat reported at Mt. Blue

FARMINGTON – A bomb threat note shoved into a computer’s CD drive at the Mt. Blue High School library was discovered by a student after school last Monday.

According to Assistant Superintendent Susan Pratt, a student was in the library working on a computer after school had been dismissed for the day and went to open the CD drive and “out popped the note,” she said.

The student immediately reported the note, which said, in effect, a bomb was in the building. Police were called in and the building was cleared of the relatively few working after school. Officers and dogs trained to detect bombs searched the building and nothing was found.

“That computer wasn’t used much and the note may have been in there (CD drive) for some time,” Pratt said.

The incident is still under investigation, she added.
