Area firefighters complete training

1 min read

WISCASSET – Nineteen area Firefighters have completed a successful day of skill end tests in Wiscasset through Maine Fire Training and Education and now can proudly display their certificates as Firefighter I and Firefighter II.

This full day test was a comprehensive skill test that is designed to validate the completion of a 160-hour training program that local Firefighters have gone through in the past seven months.

Candidates include students from the Foster Regional Applied Technology Center Firefighter Program over the past two years, firefighters from the area that have taken a bridge class through Foster Tech and the Franklin County Fireman’s Association, and several veteran-certified firefighters looking to upgrade their certification to a national pro-board level.

A lot of work has gone into these programs and many family hours have been given up to meet state and federal standards as a firefighter for our communities.  This certification will be the benchmark of achievement for members of Farmington, Jay, Rangeley, Chesterville, Livermore Falls, Temple, and Vienna fire departments.

Congratulations to each candidate for you success and thank you all for your service to our towns.
