Farmington police seeking man possibly involved in counterfeit check case

FARMINGTON – The Farmington Police Department is asking for people to be on the lookout for a local man who they suspect has been passing counterfeit checks.

Branden Belanger, 28, who is believed to have ties to the Mexico, Maine, region, is being sought by the local police department for passing five counterfeit checks in the Farmington area alone. Police say they also believe Belanger has cashed other checks in several other communities, such as Madison, Rumford, Auburn and Gorham, N.H., among other towns.

Anyone who believes they have had contact with, or know the whereabouts of, Belanger are being asked to call the Farmington Police Department at (207) 778-6311.
