FARMINGTON – An Industry man was indicted on 34 charges by a grand jury last week, with the state saying the case involves a victim under the age of 18 over a period of more than 10 years.

Paul Tracy, 44, of Industry was indicted on 11 counts of gross sexual assault, as well as various other, related charges such as unlawful sexual contact and possession of illegal sexually explicit materials. Police believe the crimes occurred from between the beginning of 1997 to the end of 2008.

Also indicted was David Cook, 26, of Wilton, on the charge of manslaughter. The indictment by the grand jury follows an investigation into the Nov. 29 death of 17-month-old Matteo Hanson. A police affidavit indicates that Cook told investigators that Hanson died as the result of a fall down a flight of stairs in a two-story apartment, and that the toddler was either pushed by his three-year-old sister or fell accidentally on his own.

However, the state’s Medical Examiner’s Office has said that their examination of Hanson led them to believe that his injuries were the result of severe force, and could not have occurred via a fall. They also say the autopsy indicated signs of half-healed injuries, including rib fractures and contusions, as well as a fracture on the back of the child’s skull.

Jamie Badeau, 24, of Wilton, was indicted on a charge of aggravated forgery, in what the state believes is a case related to Cook’s attempt to post bail. Badeau bailed Cook out with $100,000 surety by putting up her residence on the Walker Hill Road. However, according to a Maine State Police detective’s affidavit, Badeau’s home was being held as collateral for a loan by Franklin Savings Bank at the time.

Badeau had been charged with aggravated forgery because she allegedly lied on a public record filed with the court system. This elevates the charge from simply forgery.
