FARMINGTON – A pick-up truck went off the road, rolled over, felling a few trees as it went, before coming to rest down an embankment on Route 43 near the Industry town line at 6:46 this morning. One man was taken by NorthStar ambulance service to Franklin Memorial Hospital.

Reginald Haines, 38 of Industry, was headed into Farmington from Industry when the 2000 Chevy truck he was driving went onto the shoulder at a curve in the road, swerved across both lanes and went down the embankment, said Farmington police officer Ed Hastings. As the truck rolled over, it hit some trees and came to rest on its hood.

Haines, who was wearing a seatbelt, managed to crawl out of the pick up. He was transported to the hospital where he is undergoing a medical evaluation. Hastings believes excessive speed was a contributing factor in the crash.

Members of the Farmington Fire Department assisted at the scene. At times, traffic was closed on Route 43 during the vehicle’s retrieval and clean up.
