Slick road conditions reported

Several reports of vehicles sliding off roads have kept emergency crews busy today.

Light snow has been falling through the day combined with moisture frozen on the roads to form black ice has made traveling hazardous.

At 8:30 a.m. a car reportedly skidded off the Farm Town Road in Farmington and ran into a tree. No injuries were reported in that accident or from the several vehicles reported off the road on Burgess Hill in Wilton.

At 11:32 a.m. the Kingfield Fire Department was called out to Route 142 to assist a motorist off the road at 142 Freeman Road. At 1:20 p.m., crews responded to a car slid off the road at Granite Heights in Farmington.

Local and state sanding trucks have been called out to re-sand areas hit this morning as light snow continues to fall.

The National Weather Service is calling for snow accumulations of between 1 and 2 inches. Rain and snow showers are predicted throughout the day and into tonight. Low temperatures tonight are expected around 28 degrees. Saturday is expected to be cloudy with a slight chance of snow predicted before noon and a high near 37.
