Two men arrested on drug charges

JAY – Two men were charged with cultivating and trafficking marijuana after police reportedly found 20 plants, processed marijuana and drug paraphernalia on Friday.

Jay Police Chief Larry White Sr., said Randall Lake, 46, of Wilton was charged with cultivating marijuana, a Class D crime and Douglas Lake, 49, of Jay, was arrested on a charge of trafficking marijuana, also a Class D crime.

The charges were the result of an ongoing investigation by the Jay Police Department and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.

“Ground surveillance and a search warrant yielded approximately 20 marijuana plants with a potential street value of $40,000,” White said. Also reportedly found by police during the search at Douglas Lake’s residence at 23 Rocky Road in Jay, was drug paraphernalia, including scales, along with ¾ pound of processed marijuana with a street value of $2,000.

Also seized at the residence was $2,000 in cash, as well as an ATV believed by police to be used during the cultivation of the plants. Randall Lake was summoned to court for the cultivation of marijuana and Douglas Lake was taken to the Franklin County Jail. Bail was set at $3,000 unsecured.

Assisting at the scene were Jay Officers Michael Mejia, Brad Timberlake and Cpl Jeffery Fournier.
