FARMINGTON – The new Warming Center will open Tuesday, Jan. 6, at Henderson Memorial Baptist Church on Academy Street in Farmington. People of all ages are welcome to drop in for something warm, come for lunch, or stay all day. Special activities for the first week include a Christmas Carol Sing on Tuesday at 11 a.m.

The menu for Tuesday includes: baked chicken with gravy, mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, wheat roll, pears. Thursday’s menu will be: turkey and gravy, herbed stuffing, winter squash, wheat bread stick, assorted fruit.

The meal is being provided by SeniorsPlus. Donations toward the cost of the meal will be appreciated. $3 is the suggested donation, but a contribution of any amount will be appreciated.

In order to have enough food for all who come, please call the church at 778-2163 today to reserve your meal. Reservations for future Warming Center meals can be made at the Warming Center any day, or by calling 778-2163.

Hot soup, hot coffee, tea and cocoa will be available all day long for those who just want to drop in for awhile. All are welcome to come for good food and fellowship. Turn your thermostat down at home and come be warm!

If you need a ride to the Warming Center, public transportation options are: Western Maine Transportation (1-800-393-9335) or Community Concepts (779-0594). Again, these agencies need a call the day before to schedule a ride.

Should the Warming Center be closed due to bad weather, watch the TV for a SeniorsPlus cancellation. If SeniorsPlus is cancelled in Lewiston, the meal cannot be delivered. Cancellations will also be listed on WKTJ radio and on the church voicemail (call 778-2163).

Pastor Susan Crane thanks all the volunteers from the community and from many churches for helping make the Warming Center a reality. Pastor Susan is delighted to hear how excited the whole community is, and confident that “a good time will be had by all.”
