Woman faces several charges

FARMINGTON – A 27-year-old woman faces several charges in what police say began as a shoplifting call.

According to police, on Thursday about 4:15 p.m., Nicole Lamphere of Skowhegan, left the Dollar Store in the Mt. Blue Shopping Center wearing clothes she didn’t purchase. Clerks at the store saw her leave with a store price tag dangling from the pants she was wearing and were able to get the description of the car Lamphere drove away in and gave it to police.

Sgt. Shane Cote of the Farmington Police Department caught up with her and pulled the vehicle Lamphere was driving into the parking lot at Subway about two miles from the Dollar Store on the Wilton Road.

Cote charged Lamphere with theft and arrested her. While in the cruiser, she reportedly was observed taking a pill that she later identified at a prescription medication. Police immediately called NorthStar Emergency Medical Services ambulance crew to be sure what Lamphere took wouldn’t have an adverse effect.

On further investigation, Lamphere was charged in addition to theft was falsifying evidence by swallowing a pill, possession of a Schedule W drug, a violation of condition of release and possession of marijuana.
