NEW SHARON – Abbie M. Tracy, 79, of 236 Industry Road in New Sharon passed away following a brief illness, on June 4, 2021, at Franklin Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her family and loved ones.

She was born on December 24, 1941 in West Mills, the daughter of Freeman I. Chick and Hazel E. (Mason) Chick. Abbie was schooled in West Mills. On July 1, 1961, she married Philip A. Tracy in West Mills. Abbie worked for Farmington Shoe Co. and Bass Shoe Co. doing hand sewing. She later worked at the Colonial Valley Motel in Farmington and then at Farmington Laundry and Dry Cleaners. Abbie was a member of the First Apostolic Church on the Wilton Road. She was also a member of the Maine Old Cemetery Association. Abbie enjoyed sewing, knitting, gardening, pickling, spending time with family, friends, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed her many various pets and often took in strays. Her donuts were a favorite amongst the family. Abbie also donated to various charities that helped children.

Abbie is survived by her three children, Dean Tracy of Augusta, Paul Tracy of Albany, Georgia, Susan Freese and husband Bob of New Sharon; 11 grandchildren, Bobbie Lynn McCormick, James Bordeau, Tammy Bordeau, Steven Bordeau, Haley Bordeau, Felicia Bordeau, Elizabeth Tracy, Joshua Tracy, Sara Tracy, Samantha Freese, Tiffany Freese; great grandchildren, Abbie, Riley, Sierra and Ethan; sister, Geneva Coates and husband Richard; brothers, Edward Chick and partner Jackie, Freeman Chick and wife Rachel. She was predeceased by her parents, Freeman I. and Hazel Chick; husband, Philip Tracy; sister, Evelyn (Chick) Osborn; and brother, Norris Chick.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Abbie’s memory to the Franklin County Animal Shelter, 550 Industry Rd., Farmington, ME 04938.

On Thursday, June 10, 2021, visitation will be held from 12 – 2 pm preceding the funeral service to begin at 2 pm, with Pastor Sharon Walston officiating, at Dan & Scott’s Cremation & Funeral Service, 488 Farmington Falls Rd, Farmington, ME 04938. Interment will be at the Village Cemetery in New Sharon. A reception will follow at the First Apostolic Church, 534 Routes 2 & 4, in Wilton.
