LEWISTON – Albert Ellis, 77, of Auburn, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2008 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston.
He was born on Dec. 7, 1930, in Canton, the son of Ansel Staples and Winnifred (Dicknell) Ellis. He graduated from Canton High School. Albert served aboard the Medway Aircraft Carrier with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He worked as a fisherman in Portland Harbor, a barn man at DeCoster egg farm, at Bass Shoe in North Jay and his delight was as a custodian at the Canton Elementary School.
On December 19, 1974, he married Germaine Bilodeau of Canton. Albert enjoyed woodworking in his shop, working on puzzles and hook rugs. He also enjoyed landscaping with his wife as well as taking care of his ducks.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Germaine Bilodeau of Auburn; a daughter, Elaine Lowell of Gray; two sons, Allen and Dean Ellis; two step-sons, Michel Fleury and his wife, Barbara of Poland Spring and Roger Fleury and his wife, Karen of Rumford; a sister, Geraldine Ellis Parlin; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two nieces, Vicki Parlin and Paula Young; two nephews, Wendall and Leonard Parlin. He was predeceased by a son, Richard Ellis; a sister, Faye Lord; a brother, Herbert Gordon Ellis.
Graveside memorial services will be held, 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008 at the Canton Pine Grove Cemetery in Canton. Arrangements are in the care of the Wiles Remembrance Center, 42 Weld St., Dixfield. Words of condolence may be sent to info@wilesrc.com.
