FARMINGTON – Charlie “Fred” Frederick Kenney, II of Farmington, Maine passed away at the Togus VA Hospice Center Jan. 9, 2009.

He was born Oct. 7, 1926, in New Vineyard, the son of Charlie F. And Gussie A. (Parker) Kenney. He was educated in the New Vineyard and Farmington school systems, graduating from Farmington High School. He was a veteran of WWII serving his country in the US Army from 1945 to 1947.

He married Phyllis Nickerson of Turner on Oct.1, 1948. He worked for the auto dealerships of Newman’s Buick & Olds and Horn Motors as a mechanic, Wells Cargo as a service attendant, Jacks Trading Post, G.H. Bass and retired from Strong Wood Products in 1994.

Fred enjoyed fishing, smelting, camping, vegetable gardening, and was involved in stock car racing. He also enjoyed the company of his coon cat, Molly.

He is survived by his wife Phyllis, two sons, Charlie and his wife Laura of Patten; David and his wife Kathy of Sabattus; a daughter Anita Benoit and her husband David of Readfield; a sister Barbara E. Coolidge of Farmington; a brother Donald L. Kenney of New Vineyard; an aunt Winona (Kenney) Robbins of Farmington; seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

He was predeceased by his parents, a brother Frank L. Kenney, stepfathers Alson P. “Doc” Mills and Venora E. “Pinky” Wells and a brother-in-law Earl D. Coolidge.

At Fred’s request, there will be no funeral service or visiting hours. A committal service will be held in the spring at Riverside Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
